Admission to the Undergraduate Degree Programs

Admission to the Traditional Baccalaureate Degree Programs

Mount Saint Mary's serves students of diverse ages, educational backgrounds, religions, and experiences. The Traditional Baccalaureate Degree Programs are open to any student who was born female or identifies as female; men may be admitted only to the Nursing program. Transfer students interested in the nursing program must meet additional requirements for admission to that program. Please see the appropriate section of this catalog for those requirements.

Candidates for admission to the Baccalaureate programs are evaluated on the basis of their high school coursework and record (or either GED or High School Proficiency Exam), other college coursework and record (for transfers), letter of recommendation if required, and the essay. The requirements and procedures are detailed in the next section of this catalog.

Transgender Admission Policy

The admission policy which was adopted unanimously by the Board of Trustees in May 2018 is that any student who was born female or identifies as female is eligible for admission to our traditional undergraduate women’s university.  A student with documents such as transcripts, standardized test scores, or FAFSA submissions, which include a gender designation that does not accurately reflect the student’s gender identity is encouraged to bring this to the attention of the admissions office at the time of application.
