HIS 10 History of Los Angeles

This course examines the social, cultural, political, and environmental history of Los Angeles from its Indigenous origins to the present day. Emphasizing themes of migration, race, gender, and social justice, the course explores how diverse communities have shaped—and been shaped by—the city’s growth. Students consider Los Angeles as a dynamic site of activism, creativity, and leadership, reflecting Mount Saint Mary’s mission to foster engaged, informed, and compassionate citizens.
