Admission to the Undergraduate Degree Programs

Mount Saint Mary's University is a women's university that offers select co-educational programs. Candidates for admission to the Baccalaureate degree programs are evaluated on the basis of their high school coursework and record (or either GED or High School Proficiency Exam), other college coursework and record (for transfers), letter of recommendation if required, and the essay. The requirements and procedures are detailed in the Undergraduate Admission Procedures section of this catalog. Transfer students interested in nursing must meet additional requirements for admission to that program. Please see the Transfer Admission Procedures section of this catalog for those requirements.

Admission to the Graduate Degree Programs

A student who holds, or will obtain, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent by the time of matriculation (for prospective international students, a three- or four-year undergraduate degree from an institution of recognized standing) is eligible to apply for admission. The student's previous academic record must give evidence of the ability and preparation necessary for successfully pursuing graduate study. Each applicant is evaluated by faculty, director, or chair of their respective program. Each individual graduate program has application and admission criteria that applicants must meet. Admission will be based on an evaluation of the applicant's potential for success in both the program and the profession.
