SPA 128A Spanish for Social Workers

This course aims at building on students' academic and/or native foundation in the Spanish language by providing specialized language in the field of Social Work. In this course, students apply the social work terminology in role-play activities that include, but are not limited to, interviewing, assessing and addressing issues specific to clients and families, report writing, among others.  Although the course develops listening, reading, and writing skills, its emphasis is on communicating effectively with a Spanish-speaking client and/or family member. Prerequisite: Spanish 2 or equivalent, or instructor's consent.
