PSY 423 Critical Social Psychology
This course addresses traditional social psychological research on how adults think about, influence, and relate to each other (e.g., social perception, attitudes, biases, persuasion, conformity, group processes, discrimination). In addition to exploring historical work in the field, we will look at contemporary empirical work, apply social psychological findings to clinical situations, and critique both historical and contemporary work using a variety of critical theoretical lenses, such as Feminisms, Marxism, Social Constructionism, Radical Psychoanalysis, Queer Theory, Critical Race Theory, and Liberation Psychology.
