RST 178 World Spiritualities: Death and Afterlife in World Spiritualities

"What, if anything, happens after this life is over?" “What answers do people of different global spiritualities bring to issues of loss and grief?” “How do others in this world express their life-vision and hopes for the next life through their sacred texts, art, rites, rituals, and customs?” This course is meant to broaden horizons. It emphasizes the need for professional cultural competence and respect in whatever vocation the MSMU graduate chooses to exercise. We will use the tools provided to us by our spiritual and intellectual heritage (The Catholic Intellectual Tradition, the CSJ Ethos, the U.N. Charter of Human Rights, etc.) to engage these issues. Topics will vary with the instructor. GE 5C.
