NUR 409 Curriculum Development & Evaluation in Nursing Education
This course prepares doctoral nursing students to design, implement, and evaluate curricula that advance excellence in nursing education and practice. Learners will explore theoretical foundations, accreditation standards, and national competencies (AACN Essentials, AONL, NLN) to guide curriculum development across academic and clinical settings. Emphasis is placed on aligning program outcomes with instructional strategies, assessment methods, and evaluation frameworks that ensure quality, equity, and continuous improvement.
Students will gain expertise in curriculum mapping, assignment-to-outcome crosswalks, and the use of rubrics and dashboards to measure effectiveness. Through applied projects, participants will critically analyze existing curricula, propose evidence-based revisions, and develop evaluation plans that foster accountability, transparency, and stakeholder engagement.
