PSY 406 Diverse Populations

In this course students will build a foundational understanding of research in the behavioral/social sciences as it pertains to the needs and experiences of various populations. Students will explore social justice frameworks and paradigms that may influence future research, dissertation, and practice as a therapist. Readings and conversation may encompass topics of: culture, race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, language, socioeconomic status, disability, national origin, and/or other intersectional identities. Students will have the opportunity to explore how their own positionality, cultural values and biases influence their understanding of others.
