PT 441 Integrative Seminar I

The Integrative Seminars are a series of two courses designed to provide situated or contextual learning experiences within the academic curriculum.  The intention of these seminars is to provide a forum within which to develop clinical reasoning skills in preparation for practice in the clinical environment.  Students will be given advanced training in scientific and clinical literature to facilitate development of a life-long professional habit of evidence-based practice. The integrative seminars promote application and integration of newly acquired knowledge with previously-learned knowledge and experiences to a clinical reasoning framework. This course will aim to integrate knowledge from the basic sciences, research and evidence-based practice, biomedical sciences, clinical skills, and self-reflection. This 1st integrative seminar is designed to develop a framework for understanding and applying theories of neuromotor control and motor learning to clients with neurologic and orthopedic issues. You will also need to integrate information from your prior courses, including: Anatomy, Biomechanics and Kinesiology, Neuroscience, Musculoskeletal Patient Management, Therapeutic Exercise, etc. This first integrative seminar will also include a standardized patient simulation.
