Sudden Death or Incapacitation of an Active Faculty Member
In the unforeseen event of an active faculty member’s sudden death or incapacitation (permanent or temporary), MSMU will make every effort to maintain continuity of our students’ educational experience and prevent degree delay. In consultation with the appropriate Dept. Chair/Prgm. Director and/or Dean(s), some of the following course adjustments may occur to better students’ academic transitions during this challenging time.
- Appointment of an alternate instructor.
- Modification of the published course grade policy from traditional letter grade to CR/NC.
- Handing an Incomplete (I) grade to all students enrolled in the course.
- Extension of the published course withdrawal deadlines.
Additionally, a new academic advisor may be assigned to the students to ensure continuity of students’ academic needs and progress.
Cancellation of the course will only be considered as a last resort alternative.
