EDU 26 Child Health, Safety and Nutrition

This course introduces and examines the laws, policies, procedures, and curriculum as it relates to the health, safety, and nutrition to young children. Emphasis on physical health, mental health, and safety for children and staff will be some key components that include the following topics: common childhood illnesses and chronic health conditions, contagious diseases, accident prevention including emergency care and first aid, health screening, and dietary/nutritional guidelines. Including the teacher’s role in prevention strategies, nutrition and meal planning, integrating health safety and nutrition experiences into daily routines, and overall risk management.
