SW 137 Mindfulness & Self-Compassion

This course provides an introduction to the evidence regarding the integration of mindfulness-related and compassion-related approaches and interventions for effective social work practice in advocating on behalf of individuals, families, groups, communities, and social justice issues. Students will learn about the effect that mindfulness-related and compassion-related approaches and interventions have on social work professionals and the clients they serve. A systematic review of various evidence-based practices and its impact on variables that address the quality of life, negative affect, compassion fatigue, social work professionals' and clients' psyche, etc. will be examined.
