GIS 122 Introduction to Data Mapping

Spatial data, which is data that includes location information, provides the foundation for Geographic Information Systems & Science (GIS). Now more than ever, people are using spatial data daily, most without consciously recognizing that fact. Spatial information has become increasingly common in most modern smartphone and computer apps. Whether you are using Google Maps, Waze, social media apps, or just web browsing, your location is an important part of the experience. There are two models used to map spatial data - vector and raster. In this course, you will learn some of the foundational concepts of spatial data and mapping. Crosslisted with SOC 122.
