EDU 247 Contemplative Practices for Educators and Healthcare Professionals
Contemplative practices, such as yoga and mindfulness meditation, are increasingly being implemented in schools, medical services, and workplaces for their benefits toward health and well-being. This course provides content knowledge on contemplative practices, including the origins of these practices in the social, cultural, and historical Eastern traditions in which they are rooted and the current context in which they are practiced. A strong component of practical application will accompany course content so that students develop their own practice to enhance mental and physical well-being and to apply learning to school, healthcare, and workplace settings. The course is recommended for teachers, nurses, therapists, and others in caring professions.
