FLM 255D Cinematic Superheroes

This course explores the cinematic superhero genre, examining its origins, conventions and evolution in film. Students will analyze iconic films and explore themes such vigilantism, propaganda, gender representation, and the cultural appeal of superheroes. Through discussions, critical assessment and creative projects, including designing their own superhero and nemesis, students will critically assess how these films reflect and challenge societal norms, exploring the intersection of film and social issues.
