RST 131 Sacred Thought: Who is Jesus and why is he called the “Christ?”
This course in Sacred Thought explains who Jesus was, what he did, and what it meant when his followers called him "the Christ." It examines the stories, texts, art, and rituals his first few followers performed after his death and through the centuries. Why was his "Way" so important then? With the many crimes, scandals and contradictory claims of the institutions established in his name, does this "Way" have any meaning now? We will address these questions and issues using the tools we have inherited: The Catholic Intellectual Tradition and the CSJ Ethos, as well as the most up-to-date cultural, archeological, and textual studies. GE 5C or GE 5D.
