RST 135 Sacred Thought: Women and Christianity

This course examines the contributions of women to Christianity in its varied expressions while recognizing wounds caused by misogyny and patriarchy.  Guided by themes and critiques from feminist liberation theologians, students will consider a variety of topics, which may include: the construction of gender and power in Christian history and contemporary churches, the roles of women in scripture, Christian feminist ethics and justice-making, intersectional and transnational aspects of Christian feminism, gendered approaches to Christian history, and feminist reimaginations of liturgy, art, and theology. GE 5B or GE 5D.
