MUS 171 Music and Ritual

Cross-cultural studies of the music identified with worship. Examples drawn from Africa, Europe, United States, the Caribbean, South America, Islam, East Asia, and India. This course plans to explore the music conceived for rituals of major religions and non-religious sacred practices.
