EDU 213B Creating Safe and Supportive Learning Environments Across the Lifespan
Taking a PK-20 approach, this advanced course addresses major concepts and principles related to creating safe and supportive learning environments across the lifespan. Educators and other helping professionals will identify mental health and social-emotional factors including trauma related factors that influence well-being. They will become knowledgeable about school and community resources and practices that support health and safety for all students; including but not limited to mindfulness, self-compassion, and restorative justice practices along with school and community health and mental health resources. Course assignments require application of principles in a current workplace context, including but not limited to working constructively with students, families, and community members to create safe learning environments for all.
