POL 111 Race and Ethnicity Politics
This course delves into the examination of race and ethnicity within the framework of the American political system. Foundational concepts such as sovereignty, race, and ethnicity will be explored. The examination of political histories encompasses Native Americans, African Americans, Latinx, and Asian-Americans. In addition to those case studies, an exploration into the formation of whiteness will be conducted. Planned cases for consideration involve voting rights, policing, and immigration. Throughout these case studies, attention will be devoted to identifying the root causes of racial inequities with the aim of formulating effective political strategies to address them. Meets only one: either GE 5A or GE 5B.
