POL 131 International Relations
This in an upper division class designed to expose students to the theoretical approaches and debates in International Relations. We will explore the dominant theories in International Relations (IR) such as Realism and Liberalism as well as theoretical traditions which are highly critical of mainstream IR theory. We will also discuss trends in issues such as trade, global crime, terrorism, migration, global health and the North-South gap. By the end of the course, students will be expected to explain various issues and trends in international politics by applying one or more of the theoretical approaches covered in the readings.
