POL 139 Immigration Law

This course will examine the foundation and structure of the United States Immigration Law. Students will explore the historical and legal foundations of United States Immigration Law. Students will examine ways of immigrating/entering the United States and various types of relief from removal. Students will consider the interaction of federal agencies and the Courts of the United States. Students will examine the role of the President in Immigration Law and the implications of Presidential actions throughout the history of the United States. Through this journey, students will gain an appreciation of the complexity of Immigration Law and its effects.  Successful completion of the course will prepare students well for further study of the field in graduate programs and/or law school.
