POL 159 Environmental Law and Policy
This course provides an introduction to the major concepts of environmental law and policy. The course will focus on U.S. statutes, regulations, and international treaties for addressing waste, air and water pollution, management of toxic substances and climate change. Alternative policy approaches to addressing environmental issues will be considered including, use of civil and criminal penalties, market-based incentives, voluntary programs, and the rise of environmental justice movements.
