NUR 255 Advanced Pharmacology and Advanced Pathophysiology

This graduate-level course covers advanced principles of physiology and pathophysiology, with the theoretical and empirical knowledge of pharmacology. An in-depth examination of pathophysiologic mechanisms across the continuum from illness to disease will be used to discuss complex health problems associated with major body systems. A knowledge of expert clinical practice in pharmacology that can be applied in the clinical setting will include pharmacotherapeutics and pharmacokinetics and discussion at the cellular response level. Alterations of pathophysiological mechanisms will be examined at the cellular level with an analysis of human responses to disease processes. Discussion of assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based management will be included in treating these health problems. Competencies necessary to work with populations and communities of interest to improve clinical care safely and cost-effectively will be used.
