PT 441 Integrative Seminar I

The integrative seminars are a series of 2 courses designed to provide situational/contextual learning experiences within the academic curriculum. These seminars intend to provide a forum for developing clinical reasoning skills in preparation for your physical therapy practice. Students will be given advanced scientific and clinical literature training to facilitate a life-long professional habit of evidence­ based practice. The integrative seminars promote applying and integrating newly acquired knowledge with previously learned knowledge and experiences to a clinical reasoning framework. This course will integrate knowledge from the basic sciences, research and evidence-based practice, biomedical sciences, clinical skills, and self-reflection. This 1st integrative seminar is designed to develop a framework for understanding and applying neuromotor control and motor learning theories to clients with neurologic and orthopedic issues. You will also need to integrate information from your introductory courses, including Anatomy, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Neuroscience, Musculoskeletal Patient Management, Therapeutic Exercise, etc. This 1st integrative seminar will also include a standardized patient simulation.
