PT 442 Integrative Seminar II

The Integrative Seminars are a series of two courses designed to provide situational/contextual learning experiences within the academic curriculum.  These seminars provide a forum for developing clinical reasoning skills in preparation for physical therapy practice.  Students will be given advanced training in scientific and clinical literature to facilitate a life-long professional habit of evidence-based practice.  The integrative seminars promote the application and integration of newly acquired knowledge with previously-learned knowledge and experiences to a clinical reasoning framework.  This course aims to integrate knowledge from the basic sciences, clinical research and evidence-based practice, biomedical sciences, clinical skills and self-reflection.  This second integrative seminar is designed to increase understanding of multi-system plasticity occurring in populations with and without neurological deficits.  We will explore the relationship between rehabilitation and plasticity with experiential learning.  You will also need to integrate information from prior courses, including Anatomy, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Neuroscience, Musculoskeletal Patient Management, Therapeutic Exercise etc.  This second integrative seminar will also include a standardized patient simulation.
