PHI 126 Theories of Everything: Descartes to Kant

Eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Europe was an era when philosophers attempted to develop systems of thought that would explain everything.  In this course we will examine some of these “theories of everything” proposed by philosophers from Descartes to Kant, and then, using the tools of contemporary feminist philosophy, investigate questions like “Who was left out of these theories of everything? Why were they left out?  How can they be included?” GE 5D.
