SW 149 Racial Justice & Anti-Racism Practice in Social Work
This course provides an exploration of historical and contemporary social conditions, social issues, and systemic inequities related to racial injustice. Students will examine race and intersectionality while analyzing how power, privilege, and systems of oppression shape individual and collective racial identity development across micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Emphasis is placed on social work’s ethical responsibility to advance racial justice through the critical examination of policies, practices, programs, advocacy efforts, and anti-racist approaches that address and dismantle racism.
