CRW 275 Scene Work

To the average viewer, movie scenes are characters in locations, saying and doing things to one another. And that’s actually true for the majority of movies. But from the creator’s standpoint, movie scenes are far more than what meets the eye. They are comprised of key components—conflict, subtext, intentions, cinematic dialogue, etc. These components combined are the things that keep audiences engaged and emotionally invested. In the Scene Work workshop, we will study well-crafted scenes from movies, and learn how they function. We will then create our own scenes, utilizing the methods that we have learned from the workshop.
