CRW 282 Vignettes and Photography

Did you know photographs are pieces of narrative that you can use to enrich your creative writing? In this class, you will take pictures from the drawer to “read” them as scenes and sites of memory: geographic, cultural, historical, or personal places to write vignettes. A Vignette is a slice of life that captures a single moment or a defining detail about a character, idea, or another story element. Photographs will motivate you to write vivid vignettes and explore topics such as racial/ethnic identity, gender, sexuality, representation, difference, commemoration, testimony, and more.
