EXS 130 Exercise Physiology with Focus on Women’s Longevity

This course explores the physiological effects of exercise on women’s health, with a particular focus on promoting longevity and enhancing the quality of life throughout the lifespan. Students will delve into the biological mechanisms that underlie exercise and how these processes change throughout different life stages, including adolescence, reproductive years, menopause, and older adulthood. The course will address topics such as cardiovascular health, muscle and bone health, hormonal fluctuations, and the prevention of age-related diseases. Special emphasis will be placed on how regular physical activity can help women manage stress, maintain cognitive health, and prevent chronic conditions like osteoporosis, heart disease, and metabolic disorders. Through research analysis, practical application, and case studies, students will gain a deeper understanding of the role of exercise in optimizing women's health and well-being across the lifespan.  

This course is ideal for students pursuing careers in exercise science, physical therapy, health promotion, gerontology, or any health-related field where understanding the role of exercise in women's longevity is crucial.
