EXS 140L Essential Foundations for Personal Training Lab
This elective lab provides students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to become effective personal trainers. Students will learn about exercise science, program design, client assessment, and motivation techniques to help individuals achieve their fitness goals. The course covers a range of topics, including anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics as they relate to personal training, as well as practical applications such as developing strength, cardiovascular, flexibility, and functional fitness programs. Emphasis is placed on understanding the unique needs of diverse clients, from beginners to advanced athletes, and tailoring fitness programs to accommodate various fitness levels and goals. Students will also learn the importance of safety, injury prevention, and ethical considerations in personal training. Through hands-on practice, role-playing, and assessments, students will gain the experience needed to confidently work with clients in individual and group settings.
