EXS 190 Women’s Health Internship/Mentoring MSMU
The Women’s Health Internship/Mentoring course offers students the opportunity to gain real-world experience in the field of women’s health through hands-on learning, professional mentoring, and practical application. This internship/mentoring program is designed for students pursuing careers in healthcare, wellness, public health, or other related fields, providing them with an in-depth understanding of the unique health needs, challenges, and disparities affecting women at various stages of life.
Throughout the course, students will work closely with experienced professionals in women’s health settings, such as clinics, community organizations, healthcare facilities, or wellness centers. They will actively participate in activities that support the health and well-being of women, including education on reproductive health, maternal and prenatal care, mental health, chronic disease management, nutrition, and lifestyle interventions. Students will also gain exposure to issues related to gender health equity, access to care, and policy initiatives impacting women’s health.
The course integrates individual mentoring and guidance from experienced professionals, allowing students to refine their skills, gain insights into career pathways, and receive feedback on their professional development. Students will reflect on their experiences through journaling, discussions, and final presentations that demonstrate their growth and understanding of women’s health.
