EXS 150AL Clinical Pilates for Movement Re-education Lab
This elective lab course focuses on the application of Clinical Pilates as a therapeutic approach for movement re-education and rehabilitation. Clinical Pilates integrates traditional Pilates principles with a focus on improving movement patterns, flexibility, strength, and postural alignment in individuals with musculoskeletal dysfunctions or injuries. Students will gain practical experience assessing clients' movement dysfunctions, develop individualized Pilates programs, and use specific Pilates exercises to correct movement imbalances and promote functional movement. The course will emphasize the use of specialized equipment (such as Reformers, Chairs, and Barrels) and Mat-based exercises to facilitate rehabilitation, improve body awareness, and enhance performance. Through hands-on practice and real-world case studies, students will gain practical experience in designing and implementing Clinical Pilates programs tailored to clients with various conditions.
This course is ideal for students pursuing careers in physical therapy, rehabilitation, exercise science, athletic training, or other healthcare fields where movement analysis and therapeutic exercise are key. It provides the practical tools necessary to integrate Clinical Pilates into client rehabilitation programs effectively.
